at least they aren't bikers?

This gang of thugs hangs out at my back door looking for chow. Sometimes the one on the left flings himself at me claws out in an attempt to get cuddles. It's hilarious and terrifying all at once. Those claws are damn sharp.

peppers

I have peppers on the edge, so I'm making a pepper-centric dinner.  Peppers, onions, rice and sausage,  plus some tomato paste. No recipe. Just winging it.

*Update* the sausage was freezer burnt so I didn't  eat any, but everything else was good.

nail growth

The bitey blonde princess bit through  my nail at the beginning of September

I polished over it, about a week after, once I was sure it was not infected.

Being under a colorstreet strip has kept it hidden, and kept me from messing with it.

it has grown out quite a way and I expect in another month it will be at the edge, where I will have the trim the entire nail down. By Christmas this nail should be  back to normal.

I'm convinced that the clear as day strips could be used as patches on broken nails.

How to tell people you're from out of town...

Without saying you're from out of town.

Well, you take pictures of things locals could not be bothered to take pictures of. I did that quite a bit recently.

Including the flight home. *shoulder shrug* I'm fascinated by the ability to fly. Isn't everyone? Watching the landscape change as you fly over different areas of the country? Fascinating! Getting in a mechanical monster and take to skies like a bird? Amazing!

The Spanish Trail Country Club, looks like a rattlesnake.

first flight.

Not completely my first ever flight, I flew a short sky tour flight many years ago in a little four seat plane. The pilot took me over our house and circled it. It was the only time I'd flown at all for a long time.

Until now. I have the window seat. And I'm enjoying watching the world go by.  I like to hunt for things on google maps. So my fascination with watching out the window isn't much different.  We might be over Kansas or Nebraska, I see fields with pivots.

My travel companion has flown before, he's asleep.

bitey blonde monster

The cat got rough playing last night and bit me. On the finger, broke my nail. It's tender today. So now I'm watching it for signs of infection.

She doesn't look like a brutal monster.

Looks can be deceiving.

adventures in hair dye

I have a plan.

 I have hair dye.

 I have an accomplice.

I may be crazy.

if a hay bale and a soccer ball....

...it would look like this nest. Last week this pile of stuff blew out of the trees. I picked it up and protected it, and it's contents from a very curious mama kitty.

After mother nature was done throwing her fit, and branches all over I wedged the nest into a forked branch in one of the Norway Spuce trees in the front yard. And, unconvinced it would stay in place I used a piece of twine to tie the branches together for more  stability.
I checked on the babies every morning,  but other than that I left them alone, so I didn't scare off the parents or garner the attention of the cats. I took one video, but really no pictures. The babies feathered out, I saw evidence of parents visiting. And now they are gone.

Belle and the fuzz-muffins.

We have a newly acquired Border Collie. She belonged to a neighboring cattle farmer, but she just wasn't into working cattle. She does, however, enjoy helping us round up chickens at bed time.

That is, if we can tear her away from her obsession.

Kittens.

Total Crazy Border Collie Obsessive Behavior. She will watch them playing like they are her full time job. If we go in the house she will watch them out the window. She will fixate on a couple kittens playing and not even notice one standing next to her.
We had a Catahoula a few years ago that was obsessed with  the chicks we had gotten that spring, but once they weren't babies, she was less concerned with them. It will be interesting to see how this goes.

I got a tattoo

It's  temporary.  Because, well, needles.  I try to get out to the farmer's market every Saturday morning. There are always good things to be found there.

while we grow our own beef and pork, we don't get brats made very often, so I support the local meat vendor by buying brats. He sits next to the popcorn guy. And I love kettle corn. I buy a bag or two every week. More if we are having a family party. There is always baked goodies. The Amish bakery brings bread, cookies, pies, and cinnamon rolls. And another meat supplier, brings baked treats in addition to there home grown beef.

Currently there is also sweet corn to be had, and green beans, and peppers, and tomatoes, and broccoli, and potatoes.

Plus there is Malley Farms Jams and other jarred goodies. Today was sweet corn salsa day! And a new peach jam.

And I can't forget, fresh flowers.

Today I bought oranges and purples.

I love Farmer's Market.
